The construction projects are starting to wind down around here, but there are still opportunities to make some good finds. The town is in the process of a complete street and sidewalk reconstruction that will probably take a few more years to complete. One of the areas currently dug up is in the downtown historic district. The other is in an older residential neighborhood. As you can see from the photos, all the boulevard's have been scrapped. The best find I made was a common date Indian Head cent, but in uncommon condition. It was only 1/4" deep.
The first couple of photos show the areas where the finds were made.
The little brass car was probably part of an old pin of some type. Its amazing that it came out in one piece considering its size and thickness. (1.5" X 2.5").
The only silver was a well worn Mercury dime and a silver earring.

Gotta love the old Boy scout token. Constructions sites have been one of my favorite places to hunt. Its like bringing history back to life. So many nice finds.... happen to just show up at those kind of detecting sites. That is probably one of the nicest 1864 Indians I have seen dug up. Nice job!

John

Your Boy Scout good luck token is from around 1915.

Here are photos of the different varieties:

Very interesting assortment of finds there! That 1864 penny is really nice. Alot of folks seem to be picking up nice IH cents this year.

Quite honestly, if I drove by and saw that site I would have lost it then and there. And then camped out morning, noon, and night. Expect to see a lot more finds from that location. I'm drooling as i write this.

Yes, the "L" is only visible on the '64, but it is located on the lower end of the ribbon, near the neck, not in the "hair" where someone else said......NGE
