anyway...my brother is the only person I know who made it to the top of picketpost...but he isn't the history buff I am...didn't notice any remains of the heliograph station...
I never did get up there...
he said he went up the back side from the highway...

Beside the one on Picketpost is there anything left of the other ones that you know of?

No, I mean are there any remains of any heliograph stations left besides the one on Picketpost? That you know of.

oh...I have not searched...I did find a heliograph at a yard sale back in the '80's...bought an sold it for big dollars.

I am sure evidence of the stations remain in some remote locations...

The United States Army | Fort Huachuca, AZ

the foot notes tell a great story...

So someone went to the trouble of hiking to the top of a mountain just to sell it at a yard sale? I would give it to the Fort Huachuca Museum or Az State Museum instead of selling it at my yard sale.

That was some interesting reading. You ready to go hiking some mountain tops to find the rest of them?

I suspect the one I found was a veteran take home...and yes, they climbed an sat in the cold wind to communicate across 200 miles.

still working out the kinks on my leg...attempting to gain some stamina again.

Speaking of Picket Post, my wife and I went out there for a hike, and looking for quartz veins,or any signs of gold. Have quite a few black sands, and a horse shoe.

No gold yet. I am still going to run the black sands through a miller table after it is built.
All I have to do is apply the chalk board paint, and buy a pump from Harbourfreight.

If it works good, I might try and sell them on Ebay,or here.

Hopefully it works good. Now if only I could find something to turn my black sand into gold.

Oh ya,my wife loves going out on hikes in the wilderness.
Helps keep her diabetes in check also.
No meds, does it by exercise and diet.
Has a little bit of a rough time some times keeping up with me because I am 6' 1',and long legged, plus she has a bad knee.
But she does fine by me.

If I had money for my black sands right now I would be driving a new truck.

You have that much black sand?

Yes,I want to make a miller table, a blue bowl, and see if I have any fines in it, or flour gold.
I am a good panneir,so I don't think I am going to find much. The same day my wife and I went out from the pics taken, we stopped by another wash.
I forgot my sand wich bags,so I looked in the back of my truck, and I had 6, of the small water bottles that are 20 ozs.
So I cut off the top,and took 6 sample of the wash in about a 100 to 150 line from different spots.
After panning just those 6 bottles out, I have a half pound of Black sands.
And I am sure there might be a few more If I pan the rest of the gravels out from the large tub I was Panning in.

I have another jar, well, lots more, but they are the size of the spices come in. The 6 oz plastic ones. One of those filled up weighs 2lbs.
I was also thinking that artists might use black sand in there sand paintings so i was saving to see if I could sell the black sands on Ebay and make money just from the black sands.
Am still looking into this.
I can get loads of black sands. I can get around 2 lbs, for every 10 gallons of dirt, buckets.
So,2 five gallon buckets.
