Hello, i found a indian head penny my 4th day using the ace, it read as a penny but did bounce a little lower, it had alot of rust or heavy gunk on it, from 1904, it should read the same as a 1 cent piece , i stopped disriminating and keep it on jewlerymode , take care

A $20 gold will read about where penny/dime is. A $10 gold will read at about low zinc or so. A $5 gold (the most commonly found denomination) will read at a hair above square tab (the thicker variety of square tab. 47 on the Whites scale). A $2.50 gold will read at about round tab. So just make sure you are accepting those targets, and you'll be able to get the corresponding gold coins.

So in theory, you could pass foil and round tabs, and still not miss $5 gold and up.
