The English use of the two fingered "V" sign for "f%& off" comes from this period in history! When French archers were captured it was common practice to cut off one of their two fingers that were used to draw the bowstring. At the next battle, the English archers would stand and wave two fingers at the French to say "we've still got ours!"
While the French would make a similar gesture using their 1 remaining draw finger. Because the Americans didn't like us,and the French helped them fight us off..they adopted the 1 fingered salute as their official "flip",rather than the English 2 fingered "flip"!
I'm a mine of useless information tonight!
Going to bed..nite
The Americans didn't like us?
