Sorry no, the saxons used brooches and pins to fasten there clothing. Functional buttons were not invented till the 13th century. Your button is post medieval (16th onwards)

I could be way off, but it looks similar to some of the old style bottle closures (stoppers, caps)... Mid-late 1800's?
