Another Day on the Battlefield with the Pitdiggers...

Just perfect day to hunt..great weather... ground nice and moist... grass nice and low and a great spot.. never know what you might dig. I found 10 bullets and a knapsack triangle. Not my best day out but hey!! I was digging which is always good these days!!!

With todays hunt.. the grand totals are:
(1) US Officers's Spur
(1) NY button
(4) .69 3 ringers
(21) .58/.577 3 Ringers
(1) .54 3 ringer
(2) .54 Sharps
(1) Enfield
(2) Merrall Carbine(??)
(1) .36 Pistol round
(2) .58 Colt Revolving Rifle

That last one almost looks like it got turned into a nipple protector. Nice finds!!
 

What was screwed in the last one? Never seen one of those :icon_scratch:

The bullet was "pulled" to unload the rifle. A device with large threads was screwed into the ramrod and used to pull the bullet out.

of course, seen those, it was so neat that the penny didn't drop :icon_thumright:
 

That is one of the neatest pulled bullets I have seen and a .69 to boot!
