hello to all
got backout to the battlefield this weekend for a couple of hours. not much to show for 84,253 paces between the corn stalks except this chewed up musket ball and what seems to be part of an old picture frame. I'll take it!
this ball is different from the others i've found, the otherss all more smooth. did this one find it's target? anyway, not sure if this is the right place to ask, but how does one determine the caliber of these? they measure between .570" to .630".
thanks for looking in!!

If it is really "chewed up" then to may have been used to create saliva in the mouth of a thirsty solider. You would have to be able to find actual teeth marks to be sure, but they are found from time to time. :)
