I got back to the site today where I found the 2 British Horse Martingales in October. The weatherman was calling for rain, so I knew I didn't have long to hunt today. I made a conscious decision that I was going to tightly grid the 30' x 50' are that the martingales came from as I strongly feel there might one left to find. Within 5mins I got a good 84 - 85 on the VDI and dug a Metropolitan Toronto and Region Conservation Authority Badge!
I feel this badge likely dates to the late 1960's or early 70's, due to it's style. I've also sent an email with pics off to Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA), asking if they might be able to more accurately date this piece for me. Here's a bit of background on who the TRCA are... I was only at the site for 20mins when the winds and the rain arrived, so I'll have to finish this hunt tomorrow.
Metropolitan Toronto & Region Conservation Authority - (TRCA)
Formed in the aftermath of Hurricane Hazel in 1954, TRCA has a strong history in watershed management and leadership in applying sustainability practices.
Today, TRCA owns more than 40,000 acres of land in the Toronto region, employ more than 475 full time employees and coordinate more than 3,000 volunteers each year.
PS. Also included a picture of the 'little girl' that greets me with 'mooches smooches' every time I get home!
UPDATE
I heard back from the Toronto Conservation Authority today, they told me this Hat Badge would've been worn by one of their Enforcement Officers in the 1970's.They also asked me if I would be willing to donate it to the city, as they have a display in their head office 'Welcome Centre' and would like to put it on display.
I agreed to donate / return it to them and will make the arrangements to deliver it next week.
I'll post a pic of my handing it over to them,
Dave
