are you going to sell any of it?
I will have no choice... As it is Treasure Trove the British Museum has the 'right' to own it - As for the value - its going to take a little while yet as the coins are still being retrieved.
Last year's trench revealed significant walls and cobbled flooring:

and some lovely pieces of pottery:

We have now extended the first trench and the dig continues (under the supervision of the Archaeologists!)
All will be revealed in time.. Still the coins appear, now exceeding 3200 in number :

and so many roofing nails (Yes! I'm digging Iron!):

Time is something I'm a bit short of at the moment, so not on here as much as I'd like to be. Will keep you informed when I can but as yet... We're still digging! x

The sheer possibilities of what you can find in the UK is almost overwhelming. . . I would be out there with a snow shovel all night if I had too! The excitement and suspense of what is down there and HOW LONG it's been since any of it has been exposed the world blows my mind! Will be watching like a hawk for more updates!!

Another season's dig on this site has come to an end, the cows are back out and the lastest excavated area back-filled and re-seeded.
Here's an aerial view of what we've done this year, showing wall foundations and rooms (the building is massive and this little bit isn't even one corner of it). The grass square in the middle; where our coats are, was last year's excavation where the majority of the hoard was.

The British Museum wanting a final coin count for the hoard were getting a little impatient with us saying "wait, here's a few more, & more, & more..." so we've finally drew a line under the hoard count (for now :laughing7:) bringing it to a total of 3624, here's just a few of the others:

There were also 2 more sestertius of Hadrain:

lots more pottery, including this little pretty thing:

and a bracelet fragment:

Its a shame we can't leave all the excavated wall foundations exposed and have the room floors covered in nice 'lawn' turf.... Someday in the future perhaps it may happen but for now we slowly excavate and backfill when we can - cattle & weather permitting - visit the post again in a few years time and I'll keep you informed.
All the best,
David x

Why is this not banner yet?

This is just an update..... It made the banner the other year when I found the first load of them. I'll do another update next year when we open some more trenches. All the best.
