So met up with Carolina Tom and Smittyman at lunch time.
They caught a flight early this morning and landed in Philadelphia at 10am. I text them a address were to go. By 11am they were swinging. Lol.
I caught up with them by 12pm..
Great guys!!! ( for southern boys) lol.
Not 10min into hunt I get this awsome mid tone deep..
Thats when i pulled the watch out.
Man this this is beautifully if i say so myself. .lol.
Tom almost crapped himself. .
Then we all together hunting this area, and I get a nice deep high tone.
I get Tom to check it with his detector, then I get Smittyman to check it.
Anyway i dig down around 10inchs and the half cent comes out!!!!
I hand it to Smittyman and say what is it?? They dont know, they have never seen one before! !! Lol.
I get it back a wipe it and say OMG!!!
Its a freaking 1803 half cent..
Did not expect that at this place???
Well right after that i pack my detector up and say im out of here.
You boys go find the rest..
There still there..
Hope they find the same??
But im sure glad I got my!!! Lol.
Ps. This is a new spot, I found it just for them;-)
Thanks for looking, and I look forward to seeing what they find. Were meeting up for dinner later.

That's a gorgeous ladies pocket watch bud. Whether it's plated or not. And a nice half cent. Karma for setting up the fellas with a place to hunt

That watch is a looker!
A winner of a find regardless of composition.
Too often the simple things are overlooked and people get caught up in the details that don't really matter, great find and continued success Vino!

I wonder if Tom and Smittyman have texted George yet and asked if they can build bonfires in Philly

You Philly boys sound off how easy it is to dig oldies. I'd love for you to come down south and try to find anything worthwhile down here at least in Charlotte. The Northerners hoarded all the money in the old days leaving the Southerners with nothing but harmonicas to sing the blues with. That is why we only find harmonica reeds :( LOL. Seriously though that is an incredible find in amazing condition. I hope my boys find some colonial coins up there or it is going to be unbearable listening to Tom....Then again...if he finds one...probably unbearable also...

Man, you've been killin' it lately! Great watch!

Thanks OXBOW. .
You are the man though!!!
Iam trying to just catch up to your incredible finds..

Vino your going to have too open up a metal detecting museum with your incredible finds. I hope your watch is 14k and quick way to tell is
if the back cover is flexible. If it doesn't flexes when pressing on the back cover it's most likely gold filled.

WOW TM.

George - thanks for the call and sharing in your excitement with me. Looks like your golden horseshoe came through again .... literally. Based on some of the discussion here I'm not sure about the ID or value of your watch, but it's an ultra cool find regardless. And I really like that copper too. Looks like she's in decent shape and should clean up nicely. Hope those southern boys don't clean out your spot. You'd better go check on them ....

Thanks Bill.
I do like the watch regardless.
Nice to be able to share with you.

Man that watch sure held up well to the forces of nature! Must have been practically waterproof. No staining on the face, hand still intact, simply amazing. The half cent is in great condition too. Very nice of you to put those guys on some good Pennsylvania ground George. I hope they do alright.

Thanks Steve.
I couldn't believe the condition either.
Sometimes it nice to share the wealth..Sometimes. lol

Last night in your 8 Reale post I mentioned the next thing you had to post by the end of the week MXT be gold.... By golly you did it! :hello2:

Really love that half cent too- you are on a roll!

But the class act is putting the two guys on a good site. :occasion14:

Thanks Keith.
Thats the first thing I thought of when I pulled it out, what you said..lol
