busted clovis???

I found this about 5 minutes into a 2 hour hunt beside a creek in SW N Dak.
I think it is knife river flint. Very thin.
Busted off base with heavy patina on one side and on the broken end.
It is 2 5/8 inches long and has a 3/4 inch flute on one side of the broken end.
Who knows how long it once was. Just wondering, would this be a piece of a clovis?
I have larger pics if anyone wants to see them.
Not many full pieces found around here so I am happy with this find. Some
day I will find an intact one hopefully.
A friend found a piece of a Folsom a couple weeks ago about a mile from where I found this.

Not sure what you are asking, I can take of profile closeup of the end if that
is what you mean. I don't see any thing that I would interpret as an overhang
but I am no expert. However I did have a bit of a hangover when I found it

Where the chip didn't quite make it all the way and left a overhang. Not sure of the real definition.

I think what you are thinking of is a step fracture. These often leave little hang nails where the flake breaks before completely releasing from the point.

I've been there. I had a overhang once and decided that trying to be able to see that I actually only had one arrowhead was more revealing!

I am not real sure of the difference between a step fracture and a hinge fracture
but I think the picture below shows a very small hinge fracture.

I think I know what you mean now, maybe this pic will help.

Yeah it's awesome. And the patina shows that it is very old, most points with that ghost white patina date to the paleo age. I would aim towards that it's a clovis...

You mean these? They are iniskim, I believe the northern plains tribes used them
in rituals to help find buffalo when times were hard and buffalo were nowhere to
be found. There is some info but not alot if you google "iniskim".

They belonged to a guy that used to be my friend, he no longer is. Not sure if he
still has them and I don't talk to him anymore, long story. I put that pic in my avatar
just to see how long it would take for someone to ask about them.

Looking at it from the point end, it has a very slight twist in about the last half
inch of the point, other than that it is flat and very well knapped. Wish I could
get that good at it, being not so far from the knife river flint source, about a
hundred miles or so.
