Living close to Canada I find a lot of Canadian in my rolls and in pocket change.

Found these two today and I dont recall ever seeing these two.

Top coin commemorates the Confederation's Centennial (not Bicentennial). Over 350 million of these 3.24 g and 19.1 diameter bronze coins were minted. On the obverse, the Queen is shown facing right. The Queen's coronation didn't occur till about 1953. Before then, like on your 1940 cent ( 86 million minted with same specs), the monarch shown was King George VI.

I find one of these in about every 5 boxes of cents. I think they are cool looking. Nice find.

hang on to any canadian pennies you find now. Banks that have any pennies left over in canadian have been ordered to return them to the mint for melting down. So canadian pennies are going to become rarer than hen's teeth. already according to one CRHing source, people on Ebay are paying 10 cents for every penny, a dollar for every roll of canooks. Me, I just love the design and might start hoarding canook pennies for copper content. Prettier to run my fingers through them, LOL.

Sincerely, Garoulady

You can. It's 3.5 hours though from Traverse City to Sault St. Marie, so not very possible for Garou. It's even less possible for me (6.5 hours to Niagara Falls).

Wish I would have started this hobby sooner. My dad goes fishing in Canada once a year. I'll make sure to send $100 up with him next time he does.
