Coin cleaning sugestions

Lots of things to take into consideration when cleaning coins. First rule is there anything left to clean and could it be valuable. Electrolysis can be harsh on copper coins, it leaves pitting, better to go with a Hydrogen peroxide approach, or a substance called Jenolite, also very good on copper and silver coins, try it diluted first.

use baking soda and vinegar, mix them together until you get a paste the cover the coin,, check it after a couple of minutes so you get the shiny effect, repeat if nec. it worked well for me

Hey Mick....I'm thinkin' a tumbler is just used for clad....

I run my coins through the tumbler.

It could always be done. Not sure I'd like the outcome for crud on a coin. Of course, if I really don't care about the "end state" it might be an interesting experiment!

Big time coin dealers will tell you not to clean coins that worth more then face value which I agree with.
