I was walking in to a site that I dug a yankee staff officers coat button at, for a short hunt about 150 yds from the foundation i turn on my gear and start walking the roadbed about 10 feet in BAm signal. Dig it out and low and behold a navy button! It was the only period find except for about 5 mule shoes. Now I am more curious why these 2 different buttons would show up here many miles from CW acion? With the aount of iron around this site its leading me to beleive that it may have been a blacksmiths shop? Maybe they were there getting there mounts reshoed
? It has good gilt in the background and probably the best condition button ive dug from my red dirt here!
