I was using my bounty hunter. It registered 1 and 2 back and forth with a pitiful reject sound. The orchard is pretty big, I would say at least 20 acres. There is a section of woods where a foundation of an old house was. I will be back there tomorrow and will take a pic of the "scene" i'm hunting. There is tons of broken pottery and broken ball masons everywhere. I thin once I get all the junk out of the way, there will be much more to find. So far, the 2 silver dimes, and the gold $1. Also found part of an old "cowboy" cap gun, a mda pin, and some neat little design thingy, not sure what it is but I will post a pic. Maybe someone has a clue?

It's worth between $200 and $300. Don't believe a word of what PCGS tells you, get a red book.

The RED BOOK has the coin in VF-20 "LIBERTY" on headbandcomplete and legible. Knobs on coronet defined"

No mintmark is worth $145, not $12,000. Where are you looking Sentinel???

Extremely Fine. Ex- Stack's "The September Sale", September 12-13, 2000, Lot 1364, sold for $63.25

(gold has since risen, but I don't think it would have impacted the value of a $1 gold coin)

AMAZING FIND!!! After 7 years of hunting I have yet to find my first gold coin!

It really doesnt matter what the book value is anyway. To me, It is priceless!! As for the headband, "liberty" is plain as day. But I do appreciate all of your info!! No matter what its value.....it made my day! HH

Wow, congrats big time on this awesome find.
As was said already, welcome to the gold coin club.
When you get time, you can submit it to Western & Eastern Treasure Magazine and they may include it in their 2007 Best finds Issue next April. Congrats again.

As far as value... I just looked on eBay at Completed auctions and this coin sold for between $104 and $170 in the last 90 days. I am sure it's worth a lot more then that to you!! I am really happy for ya!!

I hope you find a lot more goodies at the orchard. WTG! Good luck!

Golden smiles!
