Took a little hike in the desert. Found some remnants from the past. Prehistoric to 1860/61.
Found a pestle, broken metate, and the remnants of an 1860 adobe building. Two wall lines are still visible. 17C45561-DD69-43AA-AF6D-62A953A58B15.jpeg 4682B77E-0A4B-4781-B5E2-CAFB5881C347.jpeg C9D7DFC8-02A3-4588-82B5-3CCE8A93044F.jpeg A48736DF-EB50-4FDA-BD25-19C77A03CEA5.jpeg

That's pretty cool. I've seen places like that here and there across the deserts of the west. Some are sites of the old overland trails such as stage stops, trading posts, military forts and old pony express stations. Rather ghostly some can be and you wonder about who they were and what their lives out so far from the civilized parts of the nation was like. Not many of us today could handle a life like that I'm thinking being without tv, wifi, smartphones and easy access to all the amenities we have at our disposal these day.

One of the AMAZING things about walking the deserts is finding potsherds and such that were left by the peoples that populated the area. Some of the pieces may be 500, even a 1000 years old! or older! The potsherds near a trail shows that the trail was made by people, not animals. To walk the trails and sit on the same rocks that people sat on thousands of years ago is a KICK for me! I am studying the prehistoric peoples of Arizona, such as the Anasazi. Fascinating! ╦╦C
