Just got permission to detect this old 125+ year old homestead. Cherry picked it, and found 3 wheats, the oldest a 1910. Going back for more when it warms up.
Arthritis can definitely put a hamper on your detecting...Rub some Ben Gay on & Go, go, go.
Seriously,
Looks like a great place Scotto. I wish I was closer so I could come and help. Hope you finds lots of great things. Look forward to seeing pics when you go.
Most property owners don't mind me searching, as long as I agree to not enter the old houses. They don't want me getting hurt in them, and some are in such bad shape, I'd be afraid to go in anyway.
Search around any of the trees and around the firplace. Look for loose bricks on the outside of the fireplace where someone might have stashed their goodies.
Be sure and run your detector all around the door casing and the window casings. If you can get to the foundation piers, check around them and on top of the sill at those points. Check a straight line from each tree to the nearest corner of the house ( as well as the porch corners ). Check around the base of the fireplace chimney out to about 6ft. all around. Peack behind those corrigated metal panels for bottles / artifacts.
