My son Jeremy, our friend Doug, and I were hunting an old house site today and dug a nice little boot pistol. Not sure what it is yet as we haven't cleaned it.

I was afraid of that. But hey you done what you could it looks nice. Iron for me is a nono just nothing ever left to work with here on the coast.creskol said:Cleaning this little pistol has been a very slow process. It is close to being finished, so I will post some updated photos tomorrow.
As with many other relics found at this site, it appears as though this pistol has suffered extreme heat - fire damage.
It is pretty rough, and no markings are visible.
GoGoGopher said:Very cool for a 100+ year old pistol...You mentioned the pieces looked like they had been in a fire...Do you know if there was a house on the site that caught fire back in the 1800s?

That could very well be .. poor ol' Fido met his demise in the collapse of the old house.
Thanks Kuger!
