Just dug this and it may be a rarer one. From what I can find its a older first class spoon. Hoping someone can date it. It's made by Ellington & co. and it's has the date letter K which makes it a early one. Thanks for looking! [emoji2]

Thanks. It was tough to recover. Between giant rocks and tree roots. I messed the bowl up a little. Hope someone can nail it down to a date or ship.

Thanks for the info. A lot of ship between them years. I know they had souvenir spoons made but this looks like it went right in someone's pocket at the actual dinner table! Haha

What a neat old find.
I'm just imagining who may have used it.

Congrats.

The RMS Atlantic was a white star line ship that sank just off the coast of lower prospect ns in
1873 killing 535 people. I actually dug this in prospect near a old foundation fairly close to the shore. Wonder if it came off the ship?

Might be worth checking out the museum in Halifax to see if they have any cutlery from the RMS Atlantic - interesting story about the gold onboard - eh?

Boy that's a shipping line with some history huh? That's a great looking spoon with all of those markings on it! Hope you can find out more about it! Deepsecrets comes through again with some amazing research. Is Elkinton still in business? Perhaps they can help. Great find!

Fantastic history behind this find! The poor White Star Line lost so many of its ships to disasters.
Brings to mind the curious case of Violet Jessop who was aboard and survived the sinking of three White Star Line ships. First Titanic, then Britannic, and then Olympic.

Update:
I did more research and tracked down the exact year of manufacture (1871) and I'm sure it came off the as Atlantic ship disaster as I dug it in the area of the disaster at a foundation along the shore that probably would have housed survivors or the spoon was looted off the ship. Here's a quick look at my research...
