Pretty good for a grade 4. I have seen grade 2 coins look worse than this....

Southern Numismatic Bureau? White gloves? eBay Numismatic Sellers Group? This style of coin was never even on the Atocha....

Why is this shape rare? Round?....

Wayne, thanks for the encouragement!

Hey, this actually looks like a good cause! Can someone help the brother out? Nice coin - would like to hear someone here bought it....

Dang, wish there was a little more detail (18th century Potosi coins are a personal fave). Have bought from this Spanish seller....

Obviously cut from a strap. Read the thread in this forum titled "Cabo de Barra - Not!" for an explanation....

Right you are!!
The 1721 2R shown in the ad is not the same coin (at least to my eyes) that appears on the Cert.
Nor is the Cert. legible, even when 'enlarged'.
I've asked the seller a couple of Q.s. and wonder if he'll respond.

Don, I thought that too, but the cert picture has the coin propped so you are looking down on it at about a 45 degree angle.

Cert has date in blank as "1721"
Box checked for Philip V and reign
Box checked for 2 reale denomination
Dated and signed by Joseph ? (Harrison, Hanson, Henderson?) "Authenticating Numismatist"

I did write that seller; he told me to quit being the police--and to climb back up a tree. I questioned the authenticity of the coin especially when he claimed it was .999 fine. I told him if it's .999 then its a repo and is subject to the Hobby Protection Act, yet I don't see COPY anywhere on the coin; and would he please explain that. He deflected that Q. and jumped on me again.
