Well, it looks like March is going to start off with Auctions before CRH, unless of course I cant get into the city because of the snow. Quite a bit has dropped and more is expected over the next couple days. In a couple hours I will start calling the banks to see if I can make my drops or not and see if the pick up banks will be open to allow me to of course, pick up.

Friday's regular auction currently lists "
ASST. JEWELRY (STERLING SILVER RINGS & BRACELETS, TURQUOISE RINGS, COSTUME, ETC.)" We will see what comes of it for me. With prices dropping, I am inclined to spend less at these auctions which gives the resellers an advantage.

Saturday will see me at work since I am missing today because of the snow.

Sunday should see me choosing between 2 auctions.

Auction 1 to the north has listed....

Large Estate Auction!! All Consignments Welcome too!! New & Used Furniture, Mattresses, Dining Room Set, Glassware, Antiques, Collectables, Tools & More... Starts at 10am, full listing still not available for me yet.

Coins start at 1pm.

200 lots of coins, they only list the first 75. How can I do my homework if I have no clue what will be there? Anyways, whatever is in BOLD is what I am intertested in.

74. 2005 five dollar gold

75. 1896-S twenty dollar gold

Really wish I knew more, perhaps they will update the listing soon so I can print it off and start doing some homework.

And as always, there are extra items added to the listing that I wont know about so who knows what could be there.

Auction 2 is south of me, they have coins and jewelry but it seems I might have better luck to the north..

So.. got down to get my halves this week, had an extra box ordered for the one of the two boxes missed last month due to the teller forgetting to order. Also got some CWR's.

CWR Dimes 3 rolls : Skunked
CWR Quarters 7 rolls : Skunked
CWR Nickels 2 Rolls: Skunked

Box 1: Skunked
Box 2: 1/40%
Box 3: Skunked
Box 4: 1/40%
Box 5: Skunked
Box 6: 1/40%
Box 7: Skunked

Went to the dump bank to of course dump and find out what happened with the coin counter and the $131 I was short. They said that everything was short in every denomination of coin and I basically lost my $131. She tried to convince the manage to give me my $131 as I always come in with exactly $1000 in halves but he would not go for it since they were out money on everything from pennies to dollar coins. It costs sometimes to play the game.

Friday auction was good to me. Me and another lady worked together and basically got about 99% of the things up for auction between the both of us. I over paid on a couple items to get other items that were worth much more.

Quite a bit of sterling picked up, 1 10k gold ring and a necklace marked 14k but it seems very dull, almost brass dull but I picked it up for $1 and if it turns out to be real would be worth about $260. Will get it check out next week and pictures below.

Tomorrow is an auction if I feel the urge to go, I am picking up a gold ring from a guy today who owes me a debt and is paying it off with that. I have 2 gold rings to look at tomorrow on the way to the auction and another guy who contacted me with 2 gold rings and 2 necklaces.

The main auction for tomorrow was canceled and will be redone on the 17th. The sub auction to the south has

Looks like a good auction on the silver. What do you do with the silver and gold jewlery you end up with? I sell mine and use the money to buy either bullion or 90% coins. Just curious if you sold yours or keep it as part of your silver hoard.

Good luck for the rest of March Madness!!

Currently I am keeping it as part of the hoard. I have been thinking about putting some of the items up for sale on Craigslist for reasonable prices to see if I could get them moves for over melt price to buy junk silver with. I have some items that are scrap worthy but not many. I just cant see destroying perfectly good jewelry.

Well, I have spent entirely too much this weekend lol. I might not go to next weekends auction, though I will hit the Friday auction, still waiting for a listing to be put up. Of course I likely wont be able to stay away with the chance to make some extra retirement fund up, hell CRH aint doing it no more as you can see from my 2012 and 2013 averages.

Today I picked up.

Sterling ear ring with a broken back

Some heavy ear rings

Tiffany and Co ABC baby cup, cant find a current listing for pricing it out but the appraisal done on it in July of 99 showed $390.

As for gold, I picked up 3 rings today, 2 with no stones and 1 with a topaz in it.

Got the brassy necklace tested and its not 14k, oh well, I missed out for $1

Not sure on the topaz ring. I am going to get it looked at by a jewelery store tomorrow, the coin shop guys were not sure if the stone was real or not but it checked out fine on the gold tester for 14k. As for the topaz, he is thinking its closer to 4 or 5 karats in weight than my estimate of 2 karats ( I have no clue really, uneducated guess ). At 4 karats I would see a $15.40 profit and at 5 karats a $9.48 profit at the spot price today.

As for last weekends haul, in total I spent $322 and saw a total of $551.65 in PM price for a total profit of $229.65.

The above monthly totals will reflect this.

Well, hit the local corporate devil and grabbed $50 in dimes, got skunked and found a damned penny in one of the rolls lol.

On a side note, called the guy running one of the auctions this weekend, the one with the silver smith supplies. Turns out he said the lawyer for the guy whos auction it is got the scrap silver weighed at a coin shop and I was told its over $3000 worth, so its over 100 oz total. Bad thing is that it has been weighed by someone other than me so they will likely say something at the auction so I wont have my advantage of knowing the weight but I will weigh it myself if I go. Perhaps no one will have the cash to play and I might still get a good deal. I will decide on Sunday if I am going to go, depends on my energy level on Sunday, Saturday is a trip to the lake and from what I hear, they are tearing them up right now when it comes to the catfish so I might be a bit tired but I cant see myself being too tired to buy silver.

This Friday is more assorted jewelry so we will see what magic happens. Pictures come up tomorrow so I am hoping to find something special.

Well, the month of March stays true and on course, alternating a skunk and then 1 single 40% half.

Box 1: 1/40%
Box 2: Skunked

Fridays auction looks promising once again. Pictures will be posted below.

I hope one of my dump banks gets their machine fixed, I am starting to have issues getting rid of some of these halves.

I am doing lots of buying but almost no selling. I am working on selling the Tiffany cup though, the profit margin on that it just too good.

The stone on the Topaz ring is chipped on the bottom so its worthless unless I get it recut some.

I might start working a booth at a local flea market, buy sterling rings etc for cheap and put them up for sale. I could double or more my money quite easily. I need to find out what the pricing is like there. If I could buy rings for $1-$4 ea and sell them for $8-$16 ea why not? Easy junk silver funds.

Well, this weeks hunting didnt go so well. Got down and picked up my first 3 boxes after dumping $800 wroth of halves. While going through the halves I get a call from one of my dump banks informing me that their coin counter was down. A customer brought in some coin, it contained a broken part of furniture and it tore up their coin machine so currently one of my dump banks is down. I had no way to dump the coin so I could not pick up the $1500 sitting at another bank. I dumped $1000 today, picked up $620 in dimes, and still have $500 in halves and some misc CWR's from Friday to still dump. Luckily my mom has an account at my dump bank so I will have her dump at both of the local branches on Monday and go pick up my halves for me because next weeks order arrives on Tuesday. Dumping could be an issue though, might have to travel out of area to do so.

As for the 3 boxes I got, all skunks.

$620 in dimes finally produced a single Rosie. $1290 worth of dimes finally produce a Rosie, its been slow like halves and every other denomination.

Auction on Friday produced, slightly. I had to split up the auction with one of the ladies and as before we took all the good items by doing so. I won the 10k gold ring for $10 but gave it to her since she was boxing up stuff her husband purchased and didnt notice it went up for auction. I didnt get the gold but I did keep my $10 gold streak going :D

What I did manage was 2 sterling knifes for $10 and a 1/20th - 10k gold filled watch bezel for a dollar. Only about $2.50 worth of gold filling but I will take it.

Hey EE, sorry the boxes aren't you friend lately , it seems to be the trend, for me too anyway, I'm no where near what I was finding last year with less boxes searched than I'm doing now. Hopefully something good is waiting in the vault to come out. HH, maverick.

I am surprised I have not put 2 and 2 together until now.

Things really started going down hill right about the time that my bank ran out of halves and I started getting string boxes for a bit and then got brinks halves again.

I will keep pushing through this pallet, might explain why I am getting so many of the same marks on coins, its not a new dumper in my area so much as I received a pallet from a area with a massive dumper. I wonder how many half boxes are on a pallet so I could figure out approx how much time I have to push through this mess lol.

Well, the Ukrainian guy who I sometimes work with at auctions gave me a call about the auction I didnt go to since I decided to go fishing instead.

He picked up 1300 grams of sterling scrap, he would not tell me how much he paid but said it was a fair price.

He also picked up 111 grams of 10k gold for $900, that melts out for over $2300.

I on the other hand, went fishing, froze my ass off, got rained on most of the day and was home early without a bite.

I should have went to the auction.

Fridays auction is showing some coins and some foreign silver along with some jewelry, no pictures until Middle of the week.

3 boxes of halves due tomorrow.

I did manage to find a recently sunk flat bottom jon boat today, it was not there 2-3 weeks ago.

Well, coin counter fixed, got caught up on my dumping. One dump bank shorted me between $35-$60 after a bag change, not sure what will happen with that, will find out middle of next week when I go to dump again.

Picked up this weeks 6 boxes.

Box 1: Skunked
Box 2: Skunked
Box 3: Skunked
Box 4: Skunked
Box 5: Skunked
Box 6: Skunked

Old skunk streak, 11 boxes. New skunk streak is 13 and counting.

Tomorrow I dump $1000 in halves and possibly pick up dimes and nickels, not expected to find anything as those have been nearly as bad as halves for me this year. $1200 in dimes before I found my last Rosie, Last war nickel was found Jan 19th.

Todays auction I didnt attend. I did put some absenty bids on items. $4 on a 68 and 69 proof set. $5 on a 1942 two shilling coin and $9 bid on a two shilling and 2 one shilling coins in a bag on misc foreign coins.

Sundays auction still has not listed the 200 lots of coins but I will be going anyways.

Wednesday two more half boxes are due.
