Ever dig a pull tab like this one? Post your best pull tab!!

Jason, there's a rusting pile of these at one of my sites, whoever was drinking them even opened his pulltab cans with a churchkey.

When I first started drinking beer (40+ years ago), we use to “shotgun” beers. Take a church key (old can opener) and put a hole in the bottom of the beer can. Then turn it up and start sucking the beer out. When the pressure built up, you would either pop the pull tab or use the church key to put a hole in the top. The beer would shoot (be sucked) into your throat (if you were good at it) or fill your mouth and spill down on your chest (if you were not good at it). The church key would put a bigger and faster hole in the can, making the beer to shot out faster,

It didn’t take long for even a dumb high school kid to figure out that more beer was being wasted than drunk, so I didn’t do it often.

Yeah, I know about shotgunning beers. I was actually referring to digging beer cans that didn't have a pull tab option. It was either stab a hole (2 of them) or you didn't get your beer.

Found part of one, it is an hour glass type read about it once on a post in here.

the one is called a zip tab * and was a early type of beer can pulltab --the other is the classic old style "beaver tail" style pull tab -- the only good things about these types of tabs are #1 both are from "the age of silver coinage era" and #2 there were folks drinking -- that means they might have lost change or other valuable items*--because drunk folks are often careless

Neat hallmarks. another pristine gold ring seen. Why the blackout?

The ring is marked with name and dates,
according to swedish law u have 14 days after finding a lost ring or any lost item of value to turn it in to the police, then it will sit there for 3 months if no owner is found and u get it back.
if the owner is found there is a "finders reward" of 10% of the value.
the blackout is there to not show part of the name that was showing in the picture as someone not the owner may claim to be the owner aslong as they know the name/date inside the ring.
:D

This is my favorite, because it says something about what we do when we pick-up the trash that people carelessly discarded! In my short time metal detecting, I have picked up quite a few shredded aluminum cans and even razor blades in areas that small children play. I feel like we provide a public service by removing these dangerous items before someone gets hurt by them.
