After the most stressful week at work. I needed to unwind in the fields. As I only had a short time until sunset (1.5 hours) I cycled to the nearest field (even though last time I only got 1 scrappy in 2.5 hours).

I'm happy with the result today:

Musket Ball
Medieval Sexfoil (Belt Decor)
Small Dandy Button
Oblong Tudor Button - Plain top - first one I have had, the others were flower top. Always happy to get a new button & I like the tudor types which are crude but functional. :)
17th Century 'nipple' button - Civil War period
18th century Clog Clasp.

Tomorrow I will go back to the 2nd fav field.

same here i just like the designs on them and the thought of the person that had wore it just looked on ebay and found The Big Book of Buttons by Elizabeth Hughes if i had enuff cash i would grab that http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/The-Big-Book-...goryZ115QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

no idea on that book but I guess its out of print for that price. I had to paid £170 for Van Arsdell's book on Celtic Coins (normally goes for £250-£350)

Nice finds for a quick hunt. You are right about detecting being therapeutic - definitely helps to clear the mind. And then to be buzzed by a Spit....heaven!

I had an OMG moment when I looked up the price of the buttons book as it is selling for up to $625 on the second hand market.
