I received permission to metal detect around a house right down the street from me. The house was built around the 1920's to 1930's so I was hoping to dig maybe a silver dime. Well, I did! I dug a small musket ball, then 2 together with sprue. About a foot away I dug this 1820 bust dime ( in bad shape but you can read the date) a few feet from it I dug a pulltab at about the same depth. Went on to find a few coins but nothing else good. I thought it was still too hot Donnie-LOL. I'd say you are ready for relic season. Some parts of Tennessee are expecting light frost this weekend. Nice finds, Quindy.

Hey Quindy... They actually moved the house, bulldozed the lot, and are fixing to build a new one there so I had a very limited window of time to look and it was HOT! Tennessee digger

Wondering if that coin might not have been nailed to a doorframe or something with a square nail? ???

Nice!

I think that might have been worn. You see alot of them with holes in as if they were meant to be jewelry or perhaps an "in-case" type situation.
Anyone have any info on that?

I've always heard that they were sewed into pants pockets because money was so scarce. I don't know if its true but thats what I've always been told. Tennessee digger

Hey Imn you stole my thought on the square nail idea. As soon as I saw it I thought "shaped like a square nail.

As far as the pull tab being at the same depth. Feels like maybe fill dirt was brought in at some point and the coin came along for the ride. Bout 15yrs ago i found a franklin half that metered at 10" on my Teknetics Mark 1. I thought it was gonna be junk but deeper I got the stronger the signl got. So it had to have been brought in or covered by fill.
