First Gold Coin is my Best Find Ever!!

Found on Sunday, Aug. 19th...still can't believe it! I've been hunting for 20+ years and have only heard stories of those who had dug gold coins.

She's an 1851 $2 1/2 Dollar with great details and a few edge nicks that I can definitely live with! ;)

First two pics are freshly dug, and the next are cleaned up a bit....Enjoy! :)

o my I wish I found that. I have been hunting for around 30 year and have dug up every tub i come across and never seen one of those,some day my luck will change.I would keep that coin forever and never sell it, some day my luck will change and i to will find a coin like that, a once ina lifetime find . you have done well and i wish you well, let the detecting gods be with you and you will find another. good luck and post a pic of the next coin you find.

Well I know the feeling, you get a signal, maybe good, and think well a button or maybe even a coin and out pops that thing, and you think first a stupid piece of gold tinfoil again, and then you look more carefully....... congrad!

I looked in my Warmans U>S> Currency book and it shows it worth at $145.00 f to $200.00 xf. if it had a c or d would be worth $800.00 up to $2500.00

That Gold Coin would be in a pendant around my neck till I die........Unless it was very rare,,,,,then I would make a show case for it...With the story of how I found it,,,and then my Grandson would inherit it.............Very Nice find.........I wonder how many times I have swept over one (with it disc ed out) in the many old parks I detect)
