Hey friends. Went out today for a bout 30 minutes. I was detecting beside a old tree and found this old key. It has some good patina on it. I figured it might be from an old diary or maybe a jewelry box? it appears too small for a house key. Its alittle over an inch and a half long. Anyways can anyone tell me the age of it possibly? I am guessing mid to late 1800's because of the patina but what do I know.. any comments will be appreciated! thank you all!! best luck hunting!! :icon_thumleft:

Maybe from a photo album or a bible - some had pretty fancy clasps and locks on them. I'd say its anywhere from 1900's through maybe 1940's

I agree with the post-1900 date. Its a popular design & I have seen many found (on here), had 1 myself somewhere. Pretty sure they would have had many different uses, like the ones already sugguested :icon_thumright:
