Last week I went back to Maggie Mae's place. Spent around four hours there trying to find a silver ring for the owner. It was an old coin ring and he said he had lost it 30+ years ago while shooting basketball. The 'court' was/is dirt. I stayed within an area that I thought it could be and then some, but no ring. :-\ That place was LOADED with iron. I dug everything with a positive tone and ended up with pockets full of NON keepers. :-X :D

The only keeper that hunt, other than change, was a 1 Franc from 1939.

Next hunt was at an old homeplace that had the sweetest owner. He was a lot of fun to meet. Ninety-three years young and loves to fish like nobodies business! Tells a good story too!

Spent around four hours there as well. The old home was shoved down and a trailer put in its place. The dirt was shoved around and mixed in with a hefty layer of trash. Massey Ferguson fob celebrating its 125th anniversary, a broken marble, cow tag and what looks like a gun flint is all I kept from there. I found the flint piece in the little garden he had plowed off to the side. I'm hoping someone will chime in on this one and verify. :)

Then today, I went to check out a spot that we couldn't get to till now. No keepers to speak of from there except a partial arrowhead from one of the holes I dug. I sure wish he'd plow that pasture. :P :D

Not much for the week, but always fun to play.

Nana, Looks like you had a good day of detecting. Thanks for the story and pictures!

I'd say a full day indeed. That's a lot of iron from a basketball court. I probably would have put down my detector and went fishing with 'pop'.Like the flint and fob.

Nana, nice finds as usual. Looks like you got a work out trying to find that ring! (lol) :icon_sunny:

Go back a couple of times, and maybe you will find the rest of that arrowhead.

Nice finds Nana and very nice of you to try and find that old ring. Looks like you had a good time and met some good folk!

Nice Finds Alabama Nana. I have never found a French Coin. You did better than Brad and Burt. We sprnt a couple of hours looking for an elusive U.S. CW Cavalry Camp that has never been located. The only Yankees there flew over in an airplane. HH.

You gave the ring an honest effort, sounds like! I would think a coin ring, being silver, would scream at you; every silver ring I've ever found, even small kids rings, made a huge signal. Could be someone else found it. Still some nice finds there.

Nice French coin and other finds! You always make it an interesting adventure. HH, Mike

I KNOW! I thought the same!! Silver rings in so nice and loud...unfortunately so does the big iron. :P :D I say basketball court...maybe a more fitting description would be a pole with a hoop located between the barn and the house. :laughing1:
