I got permission to hunt a new farm yesterday and Brother Kirk and myself hunted went out and started swing the fields and found a few relics today. As luck would have it we found a hot spot just before dark and only had a few minutes in the thick of things. Kirk found one large iron piece I swear it looks like a short sword. Then we started hitting on some button got one early Scovill Mfg Co eagle general service, a Volunteer Mfg Co Nashille button, and a religious pin that says presbyterian on it. I did find one piece of a pewter spoon and six brass grommets in one area which looks like they still have signs of a canvass material still in then ( Tent? ) . All in all a great day.

Nice finds, I would say it probably is a canvas material, sounds like perfect detecting weather.
