Garrett GTAX 550 to be discontinued?

I was about to order a Garrett 550 on Sat on was told by one vendor that the 550 was going to be discontinued this year and that prices should be dropping when dealers close them out. The best price right now that I found was $399.99 delivered. May as well wait to see if the prices fall. He recommended the ACE 250 as about the same overall as the 550. Can't speak to that myself. Can anyone else?

I know the ACE 250 is the hot machine now and I own one. It is well worth the 200 bucks I have invested in mine. If it had an adjustable ground balance and volume control it would be just about the perfect machine for the average guy or gal. I am not familiar with the 550 but with the 1300 and 1500 on the market now it may become obsolete. I'd visit the Garrett site and check them all out as well as maybe dropping an email to their technical department. Monty
