I hope every ones is doing well. Its been a while since I posted. I went to one of my pickup banks for a bag of dimes yesterday, I got 76. Mostly rosies and a few mercs. I average about 10 per bag. I figured someone dumped a collection, so I went back and bought the quarter bag. The only problem was that they had 5 bags of quarters. I took 3 of them hopeing I got the one that was on the machine at the time of the dime dump. well I got the right one. It had 151 silver . This is by far my biggest score since I started this. Tomorrow i will go and buy the half bags . I know there are dump bags there, but i must try to find the one that was on at the time of the silver dump. I think this would qualify as a dream bag. I will try to post photos when I can . Happy hunting to all and good luck to all the new CRHs.

That score is both capital and jolly good! I hope you get a shiz load of silver halves from the bags too! Don't forget the pics! (or it didn't happen) Also, question about your username... treeslayer = anti-recycling, kill all the trees? Just curious.

As to the user name. I have been climbing Trees for over 30 years. I would rather save a tree then remove one. Its a uff job but it keeps you in good shape to handle coin bags. HH

Treeslayer - nice cull of silver. You saved them from being dispersed to unknowing cashiers. We would love to see some pictures - you know how we love some silver porn especially when it comes to the elusive quarter. Any good dates/mintmarks? By the way, you might want to include a photo of your 42/1 Merc that you found a while back for the younger group. One of the finer ones that I have seen. Congratulations to you and good to see you are still on the hunt.

Yes, great score!

Some folks on here have said that the counting machines reject silver. Is that just the coinstar machine or do a lot of the bank machines reject silver as well? Obviously treeslayer's machine gobbles silver.

Some do some don't. Depends on the machine.

those are great finds. im still trying to find a bank who will sell me bags. keep it up

I'm still not clear on what bags are. Are these drops from armored cars pretty sorting? How do they know how much is in there and sounds as though its sorted by type. Is this correct?

If you dump at a coin machine, the stuff will go into a bag. There is usually one bag in a machine for each denomination.

Newbie here and I have to ask a really dumb question. What is a dump bag and how would you go along to get any from the local banks and credit unions? How much do they normally cost?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Sincerely, Garoulady
