If the beeping goes away when you change to a new coil, the trouble is probably black sand inside the coil covers. Clean out the covers and see if that helps. Don't use to much sensitivity. Another thing to check is the pins on the coil connectors to see if you bent one. Use a cleaner on a Q-tip to clean the pins. How old is the 1500? The newer coils may be different or the resin in the coils may be bad and allow the windings to move. Does this happen when your at your home outside or in the sticks? Is your cell phone turned off? Here's an essay by the Fisher folks but it applies to all detectors.

I have a 1500 with the extra large coil too and I don't use it anymore..........
