How to clean large cent coin

Myself and friend this past week found a 1836 and 1837 large cent, what do you no for sure is a good way to clean and what absolutely not to clean with. Iā€™m sure someone knows appreciate it
 

It really depends what it looks like. If you have good detail use a tooth pick and you can even use andre's pencils. If the coin is corroded or has a porous surface go lightly with a toothbrush or do nothing at all. Some large cents you can really go to town on and others any cleaning will obliterate dates script and detail. Another method is put it in hot peroxide. If you post a picture people can give better advice on exactly what method to try.
 

Keep microwaving hydrogen peroxide to a boil, pull it out. Drop in coin. Wait for bubbles to stop. Pull coin, dab clean, repeat process until satisfied
