Thx guys for comments again .. And I'll go to same spot again these days cause the weather too hot here8-)

If you are in the area where the US and other countries made their way to fight Hussen then you may find a lot. Soldier sleep on the sand and stuff would fall out of their pockets. If you find any personnel items post them, we like to get items returned to owner or family.

I agree with u beans if I found something personal I'm glad to returned to owner family... They fight for us and we respect that.:goldmedalred:

Interesting read and not much value for the coin itself, but there may be value due to the history of it as you know it was certainly carried by a U.S. soldier at the beginning of the gulf war. It will depend on who may be interested in such a historical coin as to what you may get for it, but it won't be much I'm sure. You may find more to go with it and if you sell it then sign a paper verifying you found it in that part of the desert that the U.S. soldiers were camped at otherwise the buyer has no proof of anything.

It would be interesting to see a live dig in the desert.
Would you use beach tools and sifters?

We carried POGS mostly. Paper coins.

They didn't weigh as much, easier to transport, didn't rattle in your pocket.

Look for these as well- they may have survived the environment due to the low moisture content. (non metallic, so you will have to see them)

Best of luck.

It may have surfaced due to the winds blowing the sands off of the coin. If there is much of that type of thing with blowing sands, there may be things buried many feet down as well. The constantly changing sand levels could mean a fresh new search is in order periodically as the detectors only go so far down and winds can bury them way down or uncover them. To add it being a desert area, this is allot of MDing.

Ibrahim - Ramadan kareem!

i spent 12 years in KSA, and part of the time had a detecter. My best find was a 2nd century AD Roman coin from a junkyard south of Riyadh.

first - friday mid day is your friend - everybody is home lunching or napping after Friday prayers - no prying eyes.

I assume you are in the Eastern Province. The old hand-dug wells in the watering places between the coast, the Nejd and north of Riyadh would always yield a few old coins.

you might find out if the Antiquities Department is extending any encouragement to amateurs to assist in surveys - or if it's like the old days - tell no-one what you are doing.

As we used to say "all that is permitted is compulsory - all else is forbidden!"

fi amman illah!

To reciprocate here is a coin from your part of the world I found over here in Kansas, a state not near the water or any major international ports or airports but pretty much right in the middle of our country.
A coin from Jordan...modern and worth about 15 cents in our money.
A lucky find, it comes in as iron which at the time I usually never set my detector to hit on that but on this hunt I did and for some strange reason decided to dig it.
I have found lots of coins from different countries here, about 15 different countries from all over the world because people travel and coins travel with them.
Not much love for a lot of them because like this one and several other bi-metal mostly steel coins I have found they do come in at iron...something most of us avoid most of the time.
None of our coins come in that low in this country under most normal conditions and that may eventually change but I sure hope not for a long time.
