For a point to be in a creek bed amongst the gravel and retain that point for 3000 years is kind of an amazing thing. Congratulations on a beautiful find.

I think it has to do with the fact that besides the skill of the person who made it, you probably also had someone who was pretty skilled with a bow. They either were able to hit their target (and it was able to get away with their arrowhead efforts) or it was a long shot attempt that could not be found. If you didn't think you could make the kill, would not want to waste a shot after spending hours on a peice like that! Not many jobs today where the quality and skill of your efforts mean life or death. Different world indeed!

This one will migrate to the center of the frame soon. We've found many nice examples from the Woodland period to Early archaic period in this creek. Hopefully, this year we'll find a paleo point there.
