It's taken five years but its a beauty!!!!!

Lately I have been hunting an old farmstead that dates back to the 1750s in a really old part of ct. My e-trac has been acting funny lately so I decided to try my luck with my ace 350. which I'm not a fan of at all. I wasn't having any luck with the field so I decided to move into the apple orchard. After four hours of digging up can after can and every shot gun shell in the tri state area. I come across some nice roundness in the hole. After I wiped off the dirt I almost had to pinch my self it was my first ct copper and she was beautiful. The year is 1787. I'm curious though any one know the variety? Thanks for looking. - Justin ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1429389788.681256.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1429389803.179823.jpg

Now that I'm comfortable with the ID I'm voting Banner for sure. You deserve it for this beautiful and scarce copper

If a very rare CT in that condition does not make it then you might as well just forget about any getting up there.

there have been rarer ones that didn't make the banner but as IP said they just weren't that sharp looking.

I hope it goes up. It's so hard to find coppers with the rarity and condition to even be considered.

I was wondering if I should have this coin graded, and if so what's the best route to go by?

No real upside to having it graded. They'd just be telling you what you already know, but also including the term environmental damage. No point.

wow, great coin, who would've thought a Connecticut copper with the 350!

great find!!

Me..LOL
Back in the late 90's I dug over half my relics with a Whites Classic 3... Just had to dig most everything.
A practice that works well with any machine IMO .
but
A good VDI does help in those 'Dig or not to dig' Situations .

Very nice coin, but I agree with Ironpatch, no point in getting it graded. Most Colonial collectors don't like their coins slabbed anyway, so there would be no benefit.
