Just one good find today: old texas button with a star

Went to an old park in town today, found some old wheats and this Texas button, that actually has some weight to it. I don't know much about it. Thanks for looking!

I don't know much about that either but things with that design are civil war era. Appears to be confederate. Here is an example I found online.
