This thread is for coins you find in, on, under, or around coin handling machines such as CoinStar, Coinmaster, auto-sorting machines in banks, payphones, and vending machines. Please add your story!)

At the supermarket again. Habitually stopped by the Coinstar machine, and stooped to pick up a dime on the floor. That's when I noticed that the reject tray was full of dimes. Visions of silver dimes filled my head! I looked around to see if someone had just walked away from the machine, but there was no sign that anyone had been using it in the last few minutes, so I scooped away.

Well, no silver, just:
20 dimes (1970-2002)
4 nickels (1984-1996)
1 Canadian dime (1982)
----------------------------
US$2.20 + CAN$0.10

The first Canadian non-penny I've seen in the wild in years. Meh, $2.20 for free... I can't complain. I hope no one else is complaining that their dimes disappeared.

EDIT: As your responses so quickly pointed out, that "10" should have been a "20". I blame the error on that bugged Canuck dime planting subliminal messages in my head.

I went by the Green Machine like I always do at the market. I could see a lot of change in the return. It took me four scoops to get it all.
When I got home there was:
16 cents in pennies
$1 in nickles
$2.70 in dimes
$15.25 in quarters

Total: $18.95

The down side, no old coins.....LOL
I just wonder how long they had been sitting in there. You snooze you lose.

Went to make a dump today and had to wait for a woman to use the machine. She dumped a bag of coins and it sounded like her car keys went with it. Thumping and grinding. I hoped she hadn't broken this machine too. When she was done, she smiled and took her receipt to the teller. I turned the machine on but before dumping coins in, I checked the reject tray. $3.45. I assume some if not all of them belonged to the woman. I would have told her, but I figure if she don't know how to use the machine and collect the rejects, she should continue to use the machine. :icon_jokercolor:

A quarter and a penny in the green machine today. Then I went to the bank in side the same supermarket and got $21 loose in halves. $19 of it was 40%ers. I love that market.

Among the abandoned wrappers and baggies on the Coinstar machine today were three dimes and two chewed up pennies. 32¢ profit baby!

Still finding (common) Ikes in the (inside) reject bucket of coin counting machines; while they're changing out the bags. Picked up three more already this week.

I found one canadian dime in the reject tray yesterday... but it was after I dumped like $150 in dimes in... so does that still count if I found my own coin? =)

I found a 2002 UK 1 penny at my supermarket. It was all by itself on the floor about 15 feet from the CoinMaster machine.
