I've been continuing to dig around and sift out goodies in the same general area that relinquished the items detailed in my last 2 threads, and yesterday I hit a pretty nice layer that produced 25 wheats (1 a nice 1909), 20 copper lincolns, a clad quarter, 4 older nickels, and these silvers (got them cleaned up today):

1900 Quarter, 1899-O Barber Dime, 1925-S, '26-D, '26-S Mercuries, and '57 and '59-D Roosevelts. The barbers were a great and welcome surprise! Seems like I'm due for a Standing Liberty quarter or two now.

Prior to this i added these to the accumulation, the '47-D walker was a cool find, tokens are fun too.

Now I'm at a cool 5.00 in silver from the spot, and there is plenty more to be found I'd wager!

Happy hunting everyone!

Thanks folk! I'll be going back sometime today to hunt for more goodies, hopefully a pile worth posting will reveal itself. Wouldn't mind some more rings or a gold coin. We can dream anyway, heh.

Were these finds from that water drainage culvert area that you were hunting ? that's a good haul for sure !

(It does look like you are due for some Standing Liberty quarters - when you look at all the silvers thus far , they are noticeably absent )

Yup, all from that area, which is why I feel it's appropriate to keep taking updated pics of the silver pile from the spot as it grows. Seems like another good zone has made itself apparent so hopefully I'll have some cool stuff to share this evening, we'll see.

Happy hunting!

Do you think all those were in a house that burnt down? I have never found silvers in Ohio with that kind of pitting or dark patinas.
Almost look like salt water coins.

No rob, just coins bathed in polluted corrosive water for decades. I tend to think that the water is full of sulfuric/sulfurous acids and other related chemicals. If I were in Cincy I'd be going nuts doing this, right now I'm out west in a far less populated region. I did the same thing back in Columbus and found some cool stuff with good age and gold rings etc.

Anyway, I scrounged around yesterday and got 5 clad quarters, 2 clad dimes, 8 nickels, 34 copper memorials, 14 wheats, and .50 in silver:

'45-D war nickel, '46-D Quarter, '56-D Roosevelt, and a 1918 Merc. Now that's 5.50 in silver from the spot, and there is plenty more to be had.

That's a sweet spot. Do you think it was an old festival grounds or something similar?
