MY BEST BUCKLE SO FAR & MORE CW BULLETS

I'll start off with Friday after work. I went back into the woods where I've been digging the CW relics. Some of you may recall the 14 CW 3-ringers I dug out of the same small area last week. Well, guess what? I missed THREE MORE!!! That now makes 17 out of the same spot!!! :o :o :o
Attached is a picture of my growing collection of CW lead: 3 ringers, Enfields, carved bullets, round shot, etc.

Today I drove about 30-40 miles into the country to follow up on a lead on a new spot. It's a 1860's house/farm, with slave shacks, other old houses, barns, and a grave of a CW soldier (age 40). I will hopefully be getting the o.k. on that spot soon.

On my way back I went past a place I had hunted last year. It's an 1800's house (pictured). It was already 4:30pm, but I stopped to MD a bit. The owner said "no problem", so I got my fix. This place is TOUGH to detected because there is an electric fence for the horses all around the place. It gives off false signals (pulsating) about anywhere you go. :( I didn't get much, a few wheats, and the BEST BUCKLE I"VE EVER FOUND!!!! At least I think it's a beauty. It's heavy like brass, and I believe Victorian. :icon_scratch: The great thing is, it still has the light blue (robin egg color) stone in it.
Can anyone verify the era?

Thanks for looking Folks,
MM

Wow Doug. :o That collection of lead is getting bigger by the day. You're going to need a few more cases soon. There's gotta be a few CW buttons or buckles at that site too. That buckle you found is interesting too. Very ornate design. Any idea what the stone is?

Thanks Ev.
More display cases are on order. They really help out when trying to get permission to detect new spots when the owner can visually see what you find. Folks are always amazed at the CW relics in this aree. :o
No idea what that stone is. :icon_scratch: It looks like a large light blue Tic Tac. ;D

What, you have not found a LC yet? :tongue3: You have to much talent and great sites not to have found that LC. I have my money on you. Congrats on your recent finds. Good hunting.

Burdie

Burdie,
The old coins seem to elude me like my kids when I leave them a chore list. ;D
I'm not giving up yet. I'm working on permission to MD at a 1860's property right now. If I can't find one there, it may look bad.

GREAT buckle!! Nana

Thanks Nana.
I went up and touch the fence just to be sure it was live, and YES it was!!! :o
The buckle fortunately was found on the far side of the house away from the fences.
Have a great week,
Doug

Thanks Civ.
Those carved bullets are my favorites. So much more meaning to them I think. You can almost picture some bored soldiers sitting around killing time making them.

THANKS EVERYBODY.

Doug,

The house in your pic looks dripping with age. I don't get to see many of those homes over here, much less have a chance at detecting them. Consider yourself very fortunate for that. We all hunt what's available to us in our respective areas. You have the woods and your Victorian homes, while I have my parks.

That's a very ornate buckle you have found. You've got to be proud that you found it, and it's in great shape!!

There's gotta be some Injuns or barbers/seateds hiding around there.

Good luck!!

Thanks Dan.
I was thinking about cutting off the power to the electric fence so I'd have a better chance.

My wife & I are taking a trip to San Fran the week after next WITHOUT KIDS. She asked me if I was bringing my detector or not. I told her "no" because Dan has cleaned out the whole state of Calif of all it's old coins. :tongue3: Actually, I'm looking forward to detecting for a lot of good sushi, Chinese, Mexican, and Italian food while we're there.
Have a great week,
Doug

I've only found one LC in my life a year ago. It had no date though. :-[ Some 1800's silver would be great too.
Take care buddy,

Thanks. I have no clue what stone it is? Maybe I should put it in the "what is it " forum?
