Last weeks box of pennies contained the most varieties that I have ever found in a single box. I usually find 1, or if I'm lucky, maybe 2. Never before have I ever found 5! Here's what I was able to liberate from circulation:

16 Wheaties
1960 LD D/D
1972 D DDO
1988 P Reverse of 1989
1994 P DDR
2004 P DDR

The past few weeks boxes have been pretty tough. The finds have been few and far between. But it's experiences like this that help to keep you motivavted. I know it's a stretch, but I'm hoping for similar result's when I pick up this week's box tomorrow. I'll be sure to let y'all know if I get lucky again.

Nice finds!! I used to go through pennies and look for all those things like that and never found one. Nice going!

I do about 2 boxes a week of pennies, just sorting copper and keeping wheats. And wow! you sure do have a knack for spotting those. I wish I had your fortitude.

Nice finds. I can barely read dates with my glasses on, could never try and look for varieties or errors...

OK, along with anything unusual that catches my eye, here's what I actively search for:

1960-D D/D
1964-P DDO & DDR
1968-D DDR
1969-S DDO
1970-S DDO
1971-P & D DDO
1972-P & D & S DDO
1980-P DDO
1982-P LD DDO
1982-P SD DDR
1983-P DDO & DDR
1984-P DDO
1988-P & D Reverse of 1989
1992-P & D Type 2 Reverse
1994-P DDR
1995-P & D DDO
1996-P DDO & Type 2 Reverse
1997-P DDO
1998 1999 2000 Type 2 Reverse
2001-P DDO
2004-P DDO & DDR
2006-P DDO
2009-P DDR

Here are some resources I use

I separate 5 to 8 rolls, into date/mm piles, then look at each coin with a 16x loupe. It's tedious and time consuming, but I've been CRH pennies for over 30 years, and I can usually get thru a 2500 count box in about 4 or 5 hours. I'll do it an hour or so to wind down before bed, but when the weather is bad, I've been known to do a whole box in one sitting. Happy Hunting!!
