It's like it was destiny the way I found it. So I clean a pool that has awesome quartz scattered all over the place and the mountain right across the street has really good indications such as big rocks covered in gossan and huge white quartz rock all over it. So everytime I'm there I always keep an eye on the ground hoping to find something. We'll on fri I was checking pump and notice somthing buried under the filter in mud and so I picked it up and just by the way it felt and the yellow glow it had even though it was dirty ha and the smooth feeling I got excited. Brought it home cleaned it up threw it in to som hcl and then brought it down to local hiking shop that's has gold prospecting supplies and asked if he could test it. He did all test and 10 k 14 k 18 k and he said its gold and one of the bigger ones he had seen in a long time. I'm not sure of weight but it's got to be atleast half an ounce I'm guessing. Now I'm wondering how to get it looking the shiny polished ones or should I leave it ?

Any jeweler can easily tell you that this not a nugget. Sorry. Keep at it and that illusive first nugget will come. I remember when I first started prospecting all I wanted was a nugget. They are very illusive, but once you find your first one it seems that the others will come much easier. Keep trying and good luck

Do NOT feel bad chriseneim. You shoulda seen me a couple of weeks ago...took a prospecting hike down a steep path (more like a dry wash) to a creek...when all of a sudden..right in the middle of the ditch...I see this!

Nothing else like it anywhere...stood out like a sore thumb, flat yellow color in places, little sparkles on the edges...rough so it's near the source...maybe the last rain we had uncovered it!! Gawd I prayed for weight in that stone as my trembling hand picked it up and sadly no. I saved it and post for you and all to see. Here it is in all it's glory...what ever the heck it is. Unfortunately, my cell phone doesn't do it justice....and...it's too pretty to bust open.

ha that's such a great story and made me realize that even tho we didn't find the big one we still had one hell of a good time thinking we did. So in a way we found the feeling but not the gold hahaha
