My heart stopped for a minute when I found this coin

My heart stopped for a minute when I found this coin in the ground behind my apartment complex.... until I found out it's a fake, at least I'm pretty sure it's a fake. The first thing I saw was the 1776 date and nearly pooped my pants. I do live in an old area(pre 1700) but I just can't see how this could possibly be real. Can anyone tell me anything about it?

Now that is one huge tease. I'm glad replica coins were never popular here and I have never heard of one being found.

All the early coins were sold as copies during the U S bicentennial in 1976. I think that was before the law said they had to be marked as copy. That's why you sometimes find them. Many went to school for show and tell and never made it back home getting lost along the way. siegfried schlagrule
