Since I am still learning with my detector I just have not had much luck on the few places that I had tried. So I decided to take it to my old stand by spot( old dumpsite) to see if It would bring me any luck there. I found it hard to use as the place is very junky and I just dug it all! I figure Id bring it all home just to post now it that I found somewhere to share it as my family always just looks at me funny when I come home covered in dirt from head to toe and look at my treasures as if I am cookoo. I hope you don't mind all the pics. I really did not find much of value but I had lots of fun. I spilled my skin so soft in the bag so it all smells really good LOL.
I have not quite learned coin lingo but I will try
buncha wheaties
a buffalo
one cent with Indian on it
commerorative coin
religious medals
couple of tokens
sterling pencil
glass bracelet? just a guess
clay marble
medicine vile?
thimbles
glass tank usa
broken plane usa army (I thought these 2 were cool considering the day)
belt buckle (looks sterling)
& odds ends
Also found a large bone that according to the deer experts is not deer or moose ... hmmmmm
I thought about posting a pic in what is it any bone experts out there?

That is indeed a medicine vial. I cannot begin to tell you what is in it because they still use vials like that today.

The other stuff is really cool too.

Vickilynn,

I envy your hunt. I didn't get to go out over the holiday myself so if you don't mind, I'm gonna live vicariously through you for this trip. That tank is really cool, I bet it will clean up well too. Those are nice finds for a day out, and i'ts nice to share with someone who appreciates our love for diggin in the dirt for treasures (pop caps).

I am a new member of the forums, I too found a low level of understanding for my hobby so this is a good place to network and share a few pics of our treasured "junk", so that is why I looked for an online forum.

Regards
Tat

unfortunately the tank is glass painted green .... would rather have metal I don't dare clean it as prob all the paint will come off. And as far as the lil tuby thing it's pretty deteriated and wont open cheaper metal Im guessing.
THANKS for letting me share and your wonderful input!!!!

That's a hunt even the pros would enjoy! Digging everything sure paid off..I'd keep going back, there's likely to be more goodies waiting to be found.

Holy smokes that is one heck of a successful hunt! I'm happy to get one Indian Head penny at a hunt. You did very well with all the coins and the medals are awesome. They look like watch fobs?? The Herbert medal is great too. Congrats on your finds.

Those are some really nice finds...things like these is what I like to find. You have a little bit of everything...love that old salt shaker, the "medicine vial" kinda reminds me of a hair setting solution we used many years ago when I was a cosmetician. The solution was example...purple color for color treated hair, blue for dry hair, etc.

 RR

Wow! What a great site to hunt! Thanks for sharing your finds. The toys & the Pepsi bottle are really cool. Old coins are fun to find and are my reason to go out, but the relics you find along the way are every bit as fun to me. Keep at it & keep posting.
