My new "old" spot

No, I did not venture into the burial ground, although it did look tempting. but this little ballfield across from the church really surprised me. Spent 3 hours and my first 2 hits were the fraternity tokens, ill have to google it later. found many memorials, a crusted indian head and two large cents, 1834 & 1836 so that makes me a trifeca. The cannon was about 6 inches away from its wheels, but im glad I found both of them, the spoon piece seems to be sterling so at least i did get some silver.
a nice eagle button and a flat airplane also. I must say though, this was some of the most fun i had in a while,
Enjoy the pics.

Re: My new "old" spot

yeah, great place for some cool pics. The fog has a great effect. Im adding the flat plane to the pics, forgot to before, the 2 college tokens are smoothe flat on the other side so i didnt picture them. I actually did a lot of research to find this little town, I spent nights reading about the early settlers to this area, It was an hour to get there and the first time ive ever been there.
hope everyone enjoyed my post,
thanks

The cannon is marked "Made in England Britain ltd"
my googling brings it to the 1920s-30s

Re: My new "old" spot

I'll bet that church has some interesting stories that it would be able to tell.
There are many many more coins in the ground there. Keep digging.

Re: My new "old" spot

I had a cannon just like that one about 25 years ago, used to fire matches out of it :icon_thumright:
