Well its all said and done. Wife booked us a hotel in Myrtle Beach, along with flights and rental car. This trip is for February. Can anyone give me some advice? I'll be buying a Tesoro Sand Shark sometime between now and then. I would have purchased a CZ21, but I spent way to much on rebuilding one of my tractors recently, and I need to recover a bit from the sticker shock, lol.

Anyway, are any of you fine folks familiar with detecting Myrtle Beach? :hello:

February!!?? Probably be a good idea to change your bookings for the Bahamas for that time of year!

I spent 6 hours on the beach in Myrtle today. 1.28 in clad and some small jewelry pieces, all junk. Almost all from dry sand with a 50-50 split in time.

Myrtle is heavily hunted at all times of the year.

That said being from Northeast Ohio I can think of hundreds of worse things.

Mmm, yeah gonna be cold.
Anywhere by the resorts/hotels.
Low tides...and look for the "cuts".
Shells... pockets and areas with tons of shells.

The cold won't be bothering me. I'm the guy who wears a tee shirt outside year round. Of course I wear a jacket... I'm not Superman! But I did walk the 200 ft out to the mailbox in my tee and flip-flops today. It was 22F here this afternoon, and winds were whipping around pretty good. Myrtle Beach will be heavenly. Its 48F at the beach right now as I write this. Heatwave!

Thanks for the advice on the beach though. Any MDing will be a good time. If I find a clad quarter - even better!

The last time I was there I had more luck at the high tide mark, including one really nice silver ring!

Go out during low tide and hit the cuts and pools you find with the hard packed bottoms. I found a nice ankle bracelet and a wedding ring there on vacation last year. Good luck!

Gonna get me a new Stealth to break in while I'm there! Gonna eat like a pig, drink like a fool, and detect like a hung-over madman!
