On the way home from work today I dropped by the 1830 property that had the one day CW battle (April 13, 1865) where I've dug a lot of my CW relics. Not finding much and having to head home, I decided to hit the yard quickly. I got a cr-ppy signal but dug it anyways. At about 6" I pulled out a rusty square nail. Then as all good detectorists should, I rescanned the hole. Yep, there was something else in the hole off to one side. About 2" deeper I pulled out this beauty of a CW bullet.
This is the second one of these I found in this yard. I thought it was ID'd as some sort of Austrian variety last time. :icon_scratch:
That's all folks.
Bubba & I will be checking out a new spot on Saturday. Hopefully there are plenty of potted meat can for him to dig. :tongue3: :laughing9:
Have a great weekend.

Nice MM CW serious cal. lead :o :o that could do some damage

You could almost knock someone out just by throwing it at them. ;D
It's amazing what still surfaces after a spot has been hit over & over. :dontknow:
Thanks,
MM

Don't you just love how those Big Boys sound? Good job on rechecking the hole like the veteran you are. You need to go to the Sat. hunt site tomorrow and seed a few cans to keep Bubba busy. Good luck Saturday, Quindy.

Nice find for sure and one of the last bullets fired from that war. It must have been more of a skirmish as the war was just about over, especially since Lee surrendered a few days before your battle. I wonder where the last bullet from the Civil War was fired.

Nice bullet Doug, did you find that with the Silver umax? I got the 9x8 you recommended on mine now. Can I ask you where you usually have your DISC. set? :icon_pirat:

Spartacus,
You are dead on. Hear's a bit about the battle if you want to read it:

Joe,
I used to hunt a few years ago with my discrim set too high. I read somewhere on TN that there was greater success setting it on the "O" in the word "Foil". Once I started doing that I was digging a lot more stuff like small brass items, buttons, nickels, etc.
I pretty much keep it there all the time.
And yes, the mighty Silver Umax pulled through on this one for me again. I haven't even tried the Vaquero yet. ;D
Have a great weekend & good luck,
Doug
