It is copper and thin.

I certainly could be wrong but it may be the very end of decorative strapping used on either a chest/trunk or furniture... It appears to have part of a design on the one side... Just my two cents worth.

Mabey part of a door knocker?
Or like Phips said part of a trunk or chest.. it reminds me of the part where a leather strap handle was attached to the side.
Just guessing.
