Need help Id'ing silver thingy and cool little button

Found these at a site where we've found a lot of early military relics. This site has been pounded but still manages to give up some finds. Don't have a clue on the one piece. Looks silver but not sure. The button was a nice surprise. Always like digging buttons but really like it when they're not just a plain flat button! Thanks for looking and any input as always will be greatly appreciated.

Nice button, and the silvery thing reminds me of the chape of a knee buckle.

Beautiful old button. Wish I could help on the other. With the 2 pivot points, it does remind me too of the chape of a buckle. Looks like a maker's mark on it also.
