Hi and thanks for looking. I snagged a good treasure I think, here in Fort Walton Beach, Fl. Roughly 7 inches or so long, and roughly 2 1/4 or so inches wide. Bought it from a flea market here, just curious now as to what it may be made of, the age, worth, etc.. I'm fascinated by it!
Thanks again, and happy treasure hunting!!

If you bought it at a flea market, there is a good chance that it's modern. Even so, a modern piece that size could sell for around 50 bucks. If it is ancient, you scored a really nice artifact. Congrats !

Hey BassPlayer!! Really Nice Point!! You might take it to the Indian Mound Museum in downtown Ft. Walton, and they could possibly help identify it for you!! If related to that area!! I still have my house in Destin, and we found lots of pottery shards over there!! Anyway, Welcome from the Bayou State of Louisiana!! GOOD HUNTING!! VERDE!!

Thank you all for the welcoming replies! Actually, this came from a Goodwill store, in Ft Walton Beach, Florida. and they had no idea what it was or is worth. Just had it under the glass case...and the price couldn't be beat! (Someone had just dropped it off for donation to Goodwill) :o) We do have a rich Indian history around here, with an Indian Temple Mound in downtown Ft Walton. It's color is mainly gray, and I'm hoping it's old! Once again, thanks all for the comments so far! Looks like I've got some researching to do! If you happen to think of anything else regarding this piece, feel free to reply! Glad I found this site! May you all have Good Luck Hunting Treasures!

Thanks painterx7 !
Could you enlighten me on what makes it Dover flint? (I'm researching as fast as I can type, lol) And, another newbie question, if it is flint, then it is not a spear head? Wondering how old it may be. This site is very helpful! Thanks!

Well my friend Dover flint or chert is only found in a little town in middle tennessee . There is a very large flint mine located on the Brigham farm . There are several mines located in Dover but that is the largest one . It was traded to other natives . Artifacts made out of the material "I've heard " have been found over a thousand miles away . The famous Christmas star Fluted Cumberland point that was found in the duck river cache was made out of it ... It's a high quality material . Flint knappers go there to get flint to use .... I call this area home lol

As others said if from a flea market good chance it is modern/fake. Style wise it woild be a knive not a spear point or celt.....

Good luck and welcome to TN....

I'd say if it's over a 1/4 inch thick probably a Celt if its under 1/4 it would be a knife blade and it would be worth more but the value is greater to the finder lol nice find HH

Regarding this item being fake/modern, yes it was bought at a Goodwill, but they take all donations and sometimes don't realize what they have or are selling and at what price to put it. I've bought newspapers from the Lincoln assassination time period, that are clearly real, and old. Just bought a 1931 $100.00 gold mortgage bond certificate as well , again real, and old.
Yet it still could be modern/fake, possibly.
But I've got my fingers crossed that this is an old item as well. Thanks for the info received so far, very helpful! When was the woodland period? I am hooked, after finding my first piece!!
Below is the side view, the thickness is roughly 1/2" thick most of the way down the piece. I will be going to the local Indian shop in the morning to hopefully find out if it's a local piece! I will post the results as well. (Dang, I'm hoping this thing is old!! :o) )
