:hello:

Thought I would show you the coin that was found the same day I got the Gold Sovereign, this was actually found by Michael my detecting buddy :icon_thumleft:

At the time it didn't get much interest :dontknow: maybe because of the Goldy, well now it's been cleaned and ID properly, and it's such a loverly coin I thought I would show you it again :icon_thumleft:

Romn Silver Siliqua of ValantinianI, struck at Arles, Ad 364-367.

Pearl - Diamonded, drapped and cuirassed bust
right,

Emperor standing facing, head right, holding
Victory on Globe and labarum; star in right field.

Bad enough you find old Roman coins and the like out that way, but then you have to find silver and in blisteringly fabulous condition. The only thing making this find any worse is the fact you have to show it to the rest of us and make us drool on our keyboards.

I think that has to be one of the best Romans I've seen posted recently, if not ever. (OK, maybe the one bronze Crusader found; but that was only bronze )

Thanks for showing it off. It really is one terrific find.

Hispan Hi :hello:

I use various techniques, sometimes Lemon juice, Jenolite, and electrolosis, and some times just toothpaste :headbang:

Well, if that one isn't yours, it should be! And your coin is no slouch either. Just gotta like the silver, no matter what! Thanks for the show.

I remember this, I only wish they all came out like this, lucky it got lost quickly before clipping :headbang:

WOW ..what a Beauty of a coin! :hello2:

What a thrill holding something like that in your hand.

For Sonoma Mike: I actually did find a Roman coin in California. Unfortunately not a Silver but still a thrill. In case you want to check it out here's the link: http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,318576.0.html
